The Wipeout Canada Preview with Jessica Phillips: The Wipey Awards
Posted by Jessica Phillips at 10:05 AM 07/02/2011

It’s time for our season finale: The Wipey Awards.

On Sunday, we will choose contestants for such categories as Best Wipeout, Worst Freakout, Favourite Contestant, Best Audition Video, and many more! Plus, for the first time ever, I actually get to go into the booth with Jonathan and Ennis. You should see what they have up there!

Can you believe they actually allowed me to run the Wipeout Zone my last night there? It was such an adrenalin rush! You’ll be able to see the run when you tune in at 8pm on TVtropolis. I wore a mic so you could hear me talking while running it -- and when I watched the footage this week, I was a little startled by how many incomplete thoughts I uttered. At the trampolines, for example, I think I said, “It’s so much higher.” But what I meant was, “It’s so much higher than what I thought it was.” Pretty sure these half-sentences are a testament to how tough the course is -- the trickiest parts being either the water wall or the trampolines. The ledge on the water wall if so small that only my toes could fit on it, and you can’t see anything with the water pouring in your eyes.

Needless to say, I hope we get a second season -- because I want to try the new course! :) Whether or not we do, though, it has been a pleasure working with the cast, crew, and producers. I would like to thank all of the contestants for the wonderful memories they have given me. Co-hosting Wipeout Canada was an amazing experience and it will always be a memorable moment in my life that I will forever cherish.

And thank you, Canada, for tuning in every week!

Oops! There were going to be contestants from Arnprior, Petawawa, Renfrew and Brockville, but it was changed to Pembroke, the hometown of Kelsi Nielsen.

I'm very disappointed in WipeOut Canada. Honestly, it is boring, and the males announcers are very annoying. You need to show contestants from start to finish like the US version. Constant 3-second clips and far too much talking by announcers make it impossible to watch.

Wipeout Canada has lost my vote. Why is it so toned down? I look forward in watching the USA, British & Japanese version of it knowing it will make my laugh so hard. Shame...the Canadian version makes us look like wimps

I love Wipeout Canada but was completely OFFENDED that as you looked at all of the provinces and diversification, you went across Canada and included EVERY province EXCEPT Saskatchewan. Shame! Shame! Shame! There were contestants from Saskatoon and Regina - I watched them. Next time include all of the provinces please.
