    Ennis Esmer, Host

    Ennis Esmer came to Toronto from Ankara, Turkey at the age of three. He embarked on his theatre training at York University and continued his studies in sketch and improv at Second City.

    Since then, he has amassed an impressive list of film and television credits, including host and creative consultant of The Toronto Show, an hour-long showcase of Canadian music and comedy; a starring role in Thinkfilm’s Genie Award-winning romantic comedy Young People F***ing, which earned him a Canadian Comedy Award nomination; a guest-starring role on CBC’s The Border and Shaftesbury’s Murdoch Mysteries; and a recurring role on Covert Affairs for the USA Network.

    Prior credits include cantankerous janitor Zoltan in the corporate law sitcom Billable Hours on Showcase for which he received a Gemini nomination; roles in the Rainn Wilson comedy The Rocker; TMN original series RegenesisSnow Globe, a Christmas movie for ABC Family with Lorraine Bracco, Christina Milian and Young People F***ing co-star Josh Cooke; For The Love Of Grace, with Mark Consuelos and Corbin Bernsen; the ABC miniseries The Path To 9/11 starring Harvey Keitel; and sci-fi comedy Decoys.

    Ennis is currently shooting his second season as Oz Bey, partner of a telepathic paramedic on the supernatural drama, The Listener, produced by Shaftesbury Films. His work in the first season earned him an Actra Award and Canadian Comedy Award nomination. The series will continue to air in Canada on CTV as well as more than 100 countries through Fox International.  He is also set to guest star in Ken Finkleman’s upcoming new series Good Dog for TMN.

    Additional notable credits for Ennis include co-writer of a horoscope satire for Eye Weekly (which he writes with comedian Chris Locke) called Sighs of the Zodiac plus a theatrical play at Toronto’s Factory Theatre in 2009 called Melancholy Play.

    Jonathan Torrens

    Jonathan Torrens, Host

    Jonathan Torrens is an actor, host, writer and producer with more than 20 years of experience in television and film.

     

    In addition to regular recurring roles on Call Me Fitz (Showcase Canada) and Mr. D. (CBC), Jonathan is currently in production on a 26-episode third season of TV with TV’s Jonathan Torrens (TVTropolis), which, in addition to hosting, he also serves as writer, producer and director.

     

    The 2008 theatrical release of Trailer Park Boys: Countdown to Liquor Day marked seven seasons, two feature films and five Gemini Award nominations for Jonathan as J-Roc (a culturally-misguided wannabe rapper) on the hit Showcase series Trailer Park Boys.

     

    Before that, Jonathan starred as Gerald on Spike TV’s popular parody reality show Joe Schmo 2. Hosting stints include The Kids Are in Charge (Travel Channel U.S.) and Popularity Contest (CMT U.S.). He also acted as a correspondent on Reality Remix (Fox Reality Channel’s daily flagship show) and made frequent appearances on the E! Network’s popular clip-based show, 50 Most. Between 2007 and 2008, Jonathan created, wrote and produced two pilots; Hollywood Tonight (VH1) and Tested (New Line Television/CMT).

     

    In Canada, Jonathan’s host and writing work on five seasons (225 episodes) of Jonovision earned a total of seven Gemini Award nominations, including Best Individual Performance in a Comedy Series and Best Comedy Series. Prior to Jonovision, he starred for seven years on the International Emmy award-winning series Street Cents

     

    Jonathan’s film work has been screened at the Sundance Film Festival three times with Jason Eisener’s special jury prize-winning Treevenge, Thom Fitzgerald’s Beefcake and Jenny McCarthy’s multi-Razzie award-winning Dirty Love.

    Jessica Phillips

    Jessica Phillips, Co-Host

    Jessica Phillips is an actor, television host, model and motorcycle enthusiast with a bright career ahead of her.

     

    An Etobicoke, Ontario native, Jessica began modelling at the age of 14 after being scouted by a Toronto modelling agent. Her big break into television came when she appeared as one of Howie Mandel’s briefcase models on the smash-hit game show Deal or No Deal Canada. From there she appeared in various television projects including Showcase’s Canadian original series Billable Hours and the innovative and cross-media platform series, Pure Pwnage, along with CBC’s Republic of Doyle and Being Erica.

     

    In addition, Jessica made her feature film debut with an appearance in the 2010 science fiction/adventure feature film Repo Men alongside Jude Law and Forest Whitaker.

     

    Jessica is the Wipeout obstacle course co-host on Wipeout Canada airing on TVtropolis in Spring 2011.
